My name is Rory Cameron, I am a fully qualified CBT Counsellor, with COSCA (Scotland’s professional body for counselling and psychotherapy) (4 year) Certificate and Diploma in CBT Counselling recognised at honours degree level. I integrate CBT with other counselling methods with clients as required, including Person Centred, Psychodynamic, and Transactional Analysis.
A recent Scottish Health Survey published by the Scottish Government in September 2020, states that around 1in 4 adults across Scotland each year are estimated to be suffering from mental health anxiety and depressive disorders.
The dysfunctional way we interpret stressful situations, events or interactions with others in our minds, can develop into negative core beliefs, triggering negative emotions and feelings, including low self-worth, which in turn determines how we react & behave, such as isolating and withdrawing from others close to us.
CBT Counselling helps to provide you with a rational interpretation and understanding of what you have gone through in the past and how those past experiences are affecting you in the present, including your thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
In addition, as a CBT Counsellor I will work collaboratively with you to identify and eradicate the physical and mental symptoms affecting your daily functioning in the present, such as feeling anxious, headaches, avoidance, lack of concentration, mood swings, racing heartbeat/shortness of breath, lack of sleep, and overeating.
